As an Ichthus Link Church we have had a very close and growing relationship with Ichthus Christian Fellowship (www.ichthus.org.uk) since about 1996. Being just the other side of the Thames allows us to participate more fully in Ichthus activities than most Link churches. We regularly have members of the Ichthus leadership come to speak, and we have benefited greatly from their friendship and encouragement. A number of GateWay members attend the monthly Ichthus Bible School, which takes place at Ichthus House in Forest Hill, and the regular Sunday night Ichthus celebrations, which take place at the Bonhoffer church in Forest Hill, are within easy reach. It has been through Ichthus that most of our overseas relationships have developed.
Each year a group from GateWay go to Revive! the week long camp held at Ashburnham House, Battle, East Sussex. It is a great time of fun, fellowship and teaching; a real opportunity to be challenged in our thinking and to grow in our relationship with God. In addition to the diverse adult programme including celebrations, Bible studies, seminars and prayer, Revive! offers a range of events throughout the week for children, young people and students. The dates for 2015 are 1st to 7th August. For more details visit the Revive! website, where there is even a 3 minute video you can watch! Details and booking forms will be available in January. I can really recommend it. Revive! is a lifechanging experience.
Each Summer Ichthus runs the Summer Project. It is an intensive training course, comprising a challenging teaching programme and practical experience in evangelism in London. The course is for anyone wanting to deepen their understanding of the theology of mission in the context of a lively church, and at the same time gain practical experience as faith is translated into action. For more details visit the Ichthus website.
